After garduation, Jerry gave up his job at Springman Lumber and, he took a job for the summer driving a Uke truck down inside the limestone mine.  It was very dangerous.  He would tell me that the truck would teeter just at the edge of a sheer drop off as the truck was wider than the road.  What a man!

Jerry and I were married August 20 1966. We went to WIU in Macomb and then moved to the Chicago area where Jerry worked as a State Farm claims adjuster and in 1975 got into the rent a car business. We loved going to the Playboy Club and the Millionaires Club.  We did a lot of drinking in those days.  No drugs, ever. He was always liked by everyone he met, very friendly and eager to find out all ;the news about people.  I was a travel agent so, we did a considerable amount of travel and racked up many funny stories from our adventures.  Jerry loved to shop and search for bargains.  He was in his element bargaining for beads at the Nassau Straw Market.  Our hobby was going to auctions and estate sales.  His favorite purchase was a rocking chair that he bought for a dollar at an estate sale in Macomb. We refinished it  and recovered the seat and it was probably in his home on his last day.  We stood around in the rain for hours waiting for it to be auctioned off. He was determined to have it.

We divorced in 1976 and I moved to California.  Jerry married Colleen White ( realtor, which is what I am now.  How weird is that?)  They moved to Dallas and Jerry started his own home building company called Jerry Erb Homes. He made a lot of money and lived the good life. A very unbievable thing is that when my husband Robert Singer and I were planning to build a custom home in the Santa Monica mountains, my mother-in-law showed us the plans of the perfect house.  "This is the house you should build", she said.  Years later I would find out that it was a Jerry Erb Home plan.  spooky!!!

A few years before his death, he ended up with his wife in Florida selling real estate which is where I am now, doing what I am doing.  Oh boy!!  When will the coincidenaces end?

How many of you remember Jerry's turquoise and white Mercury driving thru the pit?  We loved that car.  Like many of you we would dress up for a date and end up at the drive in movie across the bridge so we could make out.

When my mother told me that Jerry was dead, I just couldn't believe it nor the circumstances.

He is missed and I think of him daily.  I have forgiven him for taking Joyce Graham to the prom after we had gone steady so long.  LOL

May eternal joy be his inheritance.

with love

Jerry and I grew up in the same neighborhood in Alton, and we were always very good friends. We played together for hours and hours evey summer, at my house, at his house, and in Haskel Park. What fun we had!  I lost track of Jerry after I went to college. I did know he had moved to Florida and also heard of his tragic death. I would have loved to see him that 2015 reunion and reminecse about old times.  I pray that Jerry now rests in peace.
