He didn't have a Tatler picture. These are pictures he submitted to the website.

David L. Rice died April 10, 2017, in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He was born January 17, 1947, in Wood River, Illinois, to Harold and Helen (Geltosky) Rice. His parents & younger brother, Hal, & brother-in-law, David Friend, preceded him in death. David attended Alton Senior High School with the Class of 1965 then served in the United States Army, honorably discharged in 1968. After his Service, he lived in Chicago where he worked at WLS (ABC) Radio, Big '89 Radio, Z95, & Radio Disney. He also worked at Been There Done That. In 1972, David was hired by the Mini Company as a performer, writer & puppeteer in the TV production of "Ink Magazine," a children's puppet show, by ABC / WLS-TV, Chicago. His main character was a beautiful, elaborate silly bird. Among his many creative endeavors, David wrote original shows, music & lyrics for the Illinois Arts Council Free Street Theatre for many years. When working at the Goodman Theatre as Sound Master & Sound Design Engineer, he wrote a jazz opera entitled 'Who's On Faust,' which was performed at the Goodman and elsewhere in the Chicago area. At various times, he performed, did arrangments & wrote original music for several bands, including The Hear And Now, in Chicago, Los Angeles, California, & other areas. He played & composed on piano & guitar. For a brief time, he lived in Houston, Texas, where he worked on customized computer program design. David also rebuilt old cars, his last project a 1988 T-Bird turbo which he drove with pride. He went on to work as Electronics Design Engineer & Service Manager at AVS (Audio Visual Systems) in Chicago then moved to the Greater Atlanta, Georgia area as Service Manager for WolfVision (Austria), USA, until he retired. He is survived by son, Daniel Rice of Memphis, TN; sister, Rita Friend, Harrisburg, IL; brother, Mike, Mesa, Arizona; long time friend & partner, Marcia Durian, Lilburn, Georgia; & nieces & nephews to whom he was very close. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by many friends. Graveside service where his ashes were interred in the Rice Family plot, were held at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois, on May 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. David wanted his headstone to read, 'He did his job.'

From Marcia Lock Durian:

But since it falls into me lot
That I should rise and ye should not
I'll lift to thee the Partin' Glass
Good Luck and God be wi' ye all ....

I will miss you terribly...

Apologies for not posting sooner. My sincerest gratitude to all for your thoughts and prayers during the time David Rice was hospitalized. I relayed each one to him and they lifted his spirits. And my gratitude to all of you who sent memories and condolences at his passing. Thank you for sharing. David will be interred in Harrisburg, IL, April 29th in his family plot with his generations. I will post his obituary here and in the Alton newspaper  ... when I get it written. Again, thank you all .. from both of us.

Received from Marcia Locke Durian.

Slept from yesterday 4 pm.m to noon today. Was exhausted but made it. Funeral was difficult but wake was nice. My wonderful sons took turns reading the notes. All present appreciated notes & reading greatly. Smiles & tears. Had lunch with my sons & remarkable conversation about astrophysics, origins of the universe & faith. (I am reading Astrophysics For People In A Hurry. Highly recommend. By Neil DeGrasse Tyson.) Tonight my sons are spinning fire for me for Mothers Day at Rita's house. Should be quite a show. I survived it. More calm now. Will always be missing him terribly. O bla dee, o bla da, life goes on....

It's wee hours Thursday. Car not packed with things for David's sister & son. Bag not packed with my mourning weeds. I spent 3 hours wrapping the plain cardboard box in which I received David's ashes in bright sky blue paper. His sister's choices, for the ashes of David's Mother, his brother, Hal, & Rita's husband, David, all gone on this past few years, were black boxes. All proper black boxes. I couldn't do that, nor could I leave the earthly remains I am taking to be buried with others of his family in the Family Cemetery Plot in plain cardboard. He gave me music. He was a shining light in my life from age 16 and will so remain until I die. Bright sky blue. Much more appropriate, don't you think? And so the cat box is not yet cleaned, the car not packed, all the chores leading to travel not done. The drive which I hoped to make in 2 days to lessen the physical strain & stress on my already terribly over-stressed & exhausted body will have to be done in one. But my last sight of those ashes will be bright sky blue. Bright blue eyes, bright, amazing smile, and bright, glowing , singing spirit. God, I miss him. My heart is broken.
