Carl Ogle

Carl Ogle, 70, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on December 3, 1946, in Alton, the son of the late Lester and Alice (Bowman) Ogle. Survivors include two sons: Jeff Ogle and his wife: Nicki of Rosewood Heights, Kyle Ogle and his companion: Whitney Williams of Rosewood Heights, two grandchildren: Derek Ogle, Emily Ogle, his granddog: Remi, four sisters and a brother in law: Wanda and Gary Bourland of Bethalto, Jean Ogle of Wood River, Marge Kirby of Bethalto, Alice Sinclair of Crossville, Tennessee, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Carl retired in December of 2016 from Western Wire Products in Fenton, Missouri, where he was employed as a machinist. He enjoyed watching sports, driving his Jeep, dog sitting, and tending to his plants. Carl was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Lester “Sonny” Ogle.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the funeral home. Pastor Martin Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military rites by the Ritual Team of VFW Post 1308 of Alton. 

Memorials are suggested to the 5A’s or to the National Stroke Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.

This guy was Steve Martin, before Steve Martin, his timing in whit was so funny.

He said he was going to the University of Southern Illinois...I thought that was funny...but...it was his delivery of the material that was so outstanding.

A regular, good guy.
