FRANK MACIAS

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Frank Macias, 71, of Alton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, after a long courageous battle with leukemia, with his loving family by his side.

He was born Oct. 10, 1947, the son of Cecil and Petra (Carmona) Macias Sr. Frank served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Bridget Doyle on May 19, 2001, in Alton, and she survives.

Frank and Bridget shared just shy of 19 years together, but made a life time of memories. They loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Jamaica and Mexico. But, mostly they loved their blended family and treasured the times spent making memories, times that were always full of laughter; holidays, bonfires, and pool time.

Frank was without a doubt the kindest man you would ever want to meet. He loved to play golf and was always ready for a challenge. Music and dancing were a passion of his and he was the "best dancer" on the floor. He lit up the room with his smile and sparkle in his eye.

Frank worked at Olin Corp. for 39 years, retiring in 2010. His co-workers were truly his family away from home. Most people retire and they are done. Not Frank. He maintained contact with the many friends he made.

Frank witnessed his team, the Cubs, win a world series and got to see a game at Wrigley Field.

In addition to his wife, Bridget; his is survived by three children and their spouses, Douglas J. Macias of Indianapolis, Eric Dickerson and his significant other, Stacey Ferguson of Alton, and Kelli and Jason Silhavy of O'Fallon, Illinois; four grandchildren, Darby Igo, Brady Dickerson, Bella Silhavy, and Owen Silhavy; two siblings, Patty Macias, and Cecil Macias; five brothers and sisters-in-law, James Seago, Tim and Brenda Doyle of Chicago, David and Alison Doyle of Godfrey, Terry and Becky Doyle of Alton, and Megan and Scott Greenwood of Godfrey; his brother and sister-in-law and best friends, Gail and Bill Murphy of Godfrey; numerous nieces and nephews who will always remember their Uncle Frank as the funny and special uncle; many friends, as Frank did not know a stranger; and their four-legged baby, Lily.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Linda Seago; a sister-in-law, Diane Macias; his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Natalee Doyle; and a brother-in-law, Tom Doyle.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leukemia And Lymphoma Society of St. Louis.
