Vivian Beneze

Vivian L. Beneze, 71, passed away at 2:54pm on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton. She was born on May 22, 1947, in Alton, the daughter of the late Leo and Vivian (Salzman) Beneze, Jr. Survivors include two sisters: Jean Johnson of Alton, June Beneze of Alton, two nieces: Caissa Shelton of Alton, Amanda Beneze and her wife: Halimah Abdullah of Alton, a nephew: Mark Johnson and his wife: Michelle of Sacramento, California, two grand nieces, two grand nephews, and her lifelong companion of over forty years: Don Hamilton.

Vivian was employed by BJC for forty – four years where she worked at Eunice Smith Nursing Home and later was the unit secretary in the ICU at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was a wonderful baker and baked many birthday cakes for people and was nicknamed the “cake baker”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Howard and Larry.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 11am on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Rev. George H. Humbert, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
