Emily Nell Simpson Wigger
Alton - Emily Nell Simpson Wigger died April 8, 2024, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born August 12, 1937, she was the daughter of Thomas and Cora Nell (Wade) Simpson. She married James "Jim" Wigger August 18, 1957, in Cape Girardeau where they met in college. She is survived by Jim as well as her three sons: Bradley Wigger (Jane) of Louisville KY; Steve Wigger (Ann) of Port Angeles, WA; and John Wigger (Kim) of Naperville, IL. Also surviving are six grandchildren: David, Cora, Patrick, J. Adam, Lena, and Jackson; as well as two great grandchildren, Elly and Jacob. Emily had worked in the Alton School System and was actively involved in the Presbyterian Church (USA) at local, regional, and national levels, including justice/peace advocacy with the denomination's Presbyterian Women. A memorial service will be May 4, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Alton, followed by a lunch reception. Burial will be private at Alton City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church soup kitchen. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements. Camp Warren Levis was important in the lives of many of our classmates who were Scouts.

Land was donated by family of our classmate Gladys Levis. 

Camp Warren Levis 100th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Camp Warren Levis will be Celebrating its 100th year in 2024. There will be a celebration at camp for all ages to participate in activities, to fellowship with new and old friends, and to have the opportunity to see the view of the lake from the porch. There are several ways to register and enjoy the day at camp.

The 100th Annivsary Celebration will take place on October 5, 2024. This is the same weekend of the annual Rendezvous. Individuals that are interested in participating in both events will have the opportunity to experience camp in a new way. Rendezvous will start at 8:00am and will conclude at 3:00pm, then starting at 3:00pm the 100th Annivsary actvities will start and end with with a campfire by 10:00pm. 

There will be program and activities at both Rendezvous and the 100th Anniversary Celebration for all ages. 

Regisration Opportunties and whats included: 

Day Pass (Rendezovus from 8am-3pm, event patch, lunch) $25

Celebration (Rendezvous and Celebration, event patch, lunch and dinner) $60

ALTON — Alton Little Theater is set to cap off its monumental 90th season in spectacular fashion with the classic musical, "Singin' in the Rain," running from May 10 through May 19, with potential additional dates due to high demand.

Among its founders in 1933 was our drama/English teacher Miss Colonius. Wouldn't she  be happy that it is still going strong....

Brenda Ann Sancamper
Godfrey - Brenda Ann Sancamper, 77, of Godfrey, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Belleville Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 5, 1947, in Alton, the daughter of the late Graves and Jo Ellen (Moore) Todd.
Brenda married Edward "Ed" Sancamper on June 8, 1968, in Alton. He preceded her in death in 2019.
She graduated from SIUE with a Bachelor's in Education and taught in Alton School District and retired from Houston School District in Texas. Brenda enjoyed reading, games, puzzles, cooking, and going to dinner and traveling with her close friends.
Brenda is survived by her brother-in-law Bob (Becky) Sancamper, and sister-in-law Sue Frederick; several nieces and nephews, Teddy, Greg and Nate Sancamper, Jason, Jamie, and Chad Frederick, Brandy Beilsmith, Brittney Brown, and Mandy Hand; several cousins and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother-in-law Ted Sancamper.
Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of funeral service at noon on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.
