Allen Wayne Lahr passed away on July 12th at the age of 73, in his home in Neptune Beach, FL.

Born August 4, 1947 in Alton, IL, he was the youngest son of Orville and Frances Lahr of Alton. He enjoyed playing baseball and basketball and played the drums in the high school band. He graduated from Alton High School in 1965 and began his college days with 2 years at Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville, before enlisting in the navy in 1969. He spent 3+ years on the USS Jonas Ingram (AKA “The Jolly J I”), supporting the Viet Nam war. After leaving the navy in 1973, he married his sweetheart Kathy Leigh, and they relocated to Jacksonville Beach, FL., where he completed his degree at the University of North Florida. He then worked as a sales rep for Standard Register and Printed Systems, Inc.

Allen’s favorite pastimes were reading, crosswords, “pin ball wizard” and golf.

Allen was laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.

Allen is survived by his lovely daughter Sarah Porter and son-in-law Josh and two grandchildren Kendall and Joshua Porter in Tallahassee, Fl., his older sister Ruth Laible and brother-in law Norman in Duluth, GA and older brother Don Lahr and sister-in-law Louise in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl.
