ANTHONY 'TONY' WINGERTER

ALTON — Anthony E. "Tony" Wingerter, 71, passed Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Godfrey. Born in Pana, Illinois on Jan. 9, 1947 the son of the late Lester and Beulah (Miller) Wingerter. Served in the U.S. Air Force as an E-4, earning three outstanding unit awards and nominated for the airman medal. An avid lover of golf he played on the S.I.U.E. golf team and worked as the assistant pro at Lockhaven Country Club. Educated at Northeast Missouri State University, Lewis and Clark Community College, S.I.U.E., Belleville Barber College and Cal State-Glendale. Was an award-winning hair stylist, certified master hypnotherapist, real estate appraiser, photographer with Olin Mills Church Division and Olin Corporation in Security. Married his high school sweetheart, Dianne Stobbs, together they had one son, Paul Richard Wingerter of Collinsville. Survived by his sister, Barbara Wichser, niece Michelle Boie (Dan), great niece and nephew, Danny and Madylan Boie, step grandson, Nathan Young (Sara), special unadopted Chinese daughter, Lianjia Badger. Also surviving are special friends and family including Chinese Veronica Earl, Aquaijha Giles and Zaydan Basilua. He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be officiated by Pastor Roger Bruce at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at River of Life Community Church 1414 W Delmar Ave, Godfrey; followed by interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Military honors will be rendered.
