Obituary for Edward "Frank" Kozicky

Dateline: Godfrey, IL 

Edward “Frank” Kozicky, 70, went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 21, 2018 while enjoying his favorite past-time, turkey hunting.

Frank was born May 3, 1947 in State College, Pennsylvania, son of the late Edward Louis and Carolyn (Reed) Kozicky. His family moved to Ames, Iowa and then Godfrey, Illinois in 1956. He attended Alton High School, graduating in 1965. He attended the University of Kansas, playing football on a scholarship. He entered the Illinois State Police Academy in late 1967. He served one year in DuPage County and one year in Quincy County before serving the next 31 years in District 18 including Calhoun County. While a State Patrolman he received the Red Cross highest award for he first aid treatment of three children involved in an automobile accident. Frank retired from the Illinois State Police in 2000.

After retirement Frank enjoyed hunting turkey and deer with friends. Frank also loved caring for his aging parents until their passing.

Frank was put on this earth to do important things. He did them with competence, kindness, and love. He was a gentle giant.

In addition to his devoted friend, Betty Miser of Wood River; he is survived by a Sarah Kozicky Fisk of Houston, Texas, her husband, Douglas Fisk; nephew Todd, wife, Jill Fisk, children, Gracen, Griffin, and Ryan; niece Elizabeth Tarkington, husband Jon; Sam and Evelyn; brother Charles Kozicky of Granite City, nephew, Todd Kozicky and wife Heather, children Paige and Hunter; niece, Shauna Kozicky; children, Chance and Taylor.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Rhonda Kozicky.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday April 25, 2018 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.

Funeral services will held at 10 am Thursday April 26, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Godfrey., 1100 Airport Rd., Godfrey, IL 62025

Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery in Batchtown, Illinois.
